World of Warcraft: Return to Azeroth

With the release of World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, I make a return to Azeroth. Like many, my real Warcraft Experience began with Orcs and Humans in 1994. Logging countless hours all the way through Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, I jumped at the idea of entering that world as one of its denizens with the release of World of Warcraft. As with many gamers, World of Warcraft won my heart repeatedly with great storytelling, grand scale, and colorful visuals. Our history was also one riddled with frustration, causing me to leave the game on more than one occasion. With the Legion gone and the battle for Azeroth returning to its roots, I couldn’t help but make my way back.

While familiarizing myself with the game took a little doing, preparing my characters for the new expansion was made easy. As Legion ended, the war between the Alliance and Horde began heating up. World events not only told the story of the lead into the Battle for Azeroth but also provided players with new gear. Additionally, Battle for Azeroth opens with a recap of the closing events of Legion, allowing returning gamers to make a fluid transition into the latest expansion.

In its first day, Battle for Azeroth was met with grand applause and great criticism. This is to be expected with any launch of this scale. As for me, I remain open and optimistic. I will reserve judgment until I have been able to explore the new content more thoroughly. What are your thoughts on the new expansion? Will Battle for Azeroth prove to be a defining moment in the World of Warcraft, or will it turn out to be just another expansion? As always, drop a comment below. Join me next time as I return to Azeroth.
