The Venture Bros S7 E3: Arrears in Science Review

The Blue Morpho Story Arc Wraps up with some unexpected Characterization!

All I can say about the wrap up of the Blue Morpho story arc is, “Damn, Jonas. You’re a dick!” In the third episode of season 7 we get a lot of information on the original Doctor Venture and finally get answers to the questions fans have asked for years. In this review, I am going to spoil the hell out of this week’s episode, so, spoiler warning.

Spoiler Alert

Arrears in Science opens up where The Curse of the Haunted Problem and The Rorqual Affair left off. The Blue Morpho  walks into Venture Industries and interfaces with Jonas. During this cut sequence, we learn all about who the Blue Morpho is, was, and has become ( AKA Vendata, AKA Venturian, AKA The Monarch’s “Father”!!!). This sequence puts into context a number of different moments from previous seasons. Within a few minutes, fans realize that the Blue Morpho was a simple pawn in Jonas Venture’s plans.

While the original Doc Venture and BM are conversing, members from the Guild of Calamitous Intent and Brock Sampson sit in a diner recounting the events of major moments in Venture history. This conversation sheds light on the history of the Sphinx war with the OSI, as well as the original destruction of Gargantua 1.

As the episode ends, there are still many questions that need to be answered. Does the Monarch realize who he really is? Will people discover who the Jonas Venture was? Will Hank and Serina get to second base?

We’ll just have to until next week when the Venture Bros season 7 returns with The High Cost of Loathing.
