We’ve now seen two trailers for Disney’s next live-action remake of their cartoon classic Dumbo. And there could not be two more different trailers. Back in June of 2018 we saw our first glimpeses of Disney’s Dumbo. It portrayed the more meloncholy aspects of the film. This new trailer the pomp and excitement you expect from a movie about a circus with a flying elephant.
From the mind of Tim Burton this live action remake uses the most advanced technology to retell the story. You may know Burton from films like Alice in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I view him as the man who brought us Micheal Keaton as Batman and Beetlejuice. Dumbo promises to be a visually stimulatring tale told from a master storyteller. Mix in an all-star cast of actors and this film looks nothing but promising.
Synopsis
Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.
Final Thoughts
Disney’s live-action adapataion of Dumbo looks incredible. I know most people will go to relive their childhood memories of the flying pacaderm, but not me. I look forward to seeing Danny DeVito (amongst other things). Dumbo soars into theaters on March 20th, 2019.
I am a man-child in my early 30s who is looking to explore the nerdy side of life. I am a former English teacher, a current copywriter, and a future who-knows-what. I love movies, literature, video games, TV, and music.
