New Legendary Events Coming to SWGOH!

What new Meta Toons are Incoming?

For those of you who don’t follow the forums or don’t read Reddit, then you may have missed this small post from one of the developers. It talks about what the future has in store for Star Wars Galaxy of heroes and says that they’ve left bread crumbs for players to find out what’s next, specifically referring to the Legendary Events and Heroes Journeys speculated at for the remainder of 2018.

Each time they’ve introduced a Hero’s Journey or Legendary Event, they’ve done so by introducing new characters to the game months in advance. When they introduced Thrawn, months before they gave us the Phoenix Squad. When they introduced BB-8 they gave us a chance to unlock Resistance characters. When they introduced R2-D2 they made Old Ben the log in character for that month. Theyre dropping hints. They do this to leave clues to guide players to a certain try and guess what’s next.

So what clues have they been giving players to help them guess what events on coming to SWGOH? The major answer is found in the reworks.

The Old Republic

The KOTOR crew is missing some solid toons

There are a handful of characters from the Old Republic that would now make sense to add to the game. I have narrowed a pretty extensive list down to two characters: Revan and Canderous Ordo.

Revan

I hesitate to put Revan on this list. At first glance, the Sith characters—Triumvirate, Trooper, Marauder, and Assassin—seem like a red herring. It’s not until you consider that the SWGOH fiscal year starts in April that Revan becomes a possibility in the game.  I have always said, that if we get Revan, it will likely be in the month of February. So far all characters even remotely associated with fan favorite have come in the month of February, with the exception of the original knights of the old Republic cast .

Canderous Ordo

Canderous Ordo is a character that shows up in both KOTOR 1 and 2. He is a Mandalorian who eventually becomes Mandalore the Preserver and is the only recurring character from both games that is not currently in the game. The other recurring characters are HK-47 and T3-M4. Additionally, the addition of Canderous could be the first step towards having a Mandalorian tag to the game.

Solo: A Star Wars Story Scoundrels

We are still missing some major players from the movie.

The characters from Solo: A Star Wars Story could indicate a number of different future Heroes Journeys or Legendary Events. We could even see our first Villain’s Journey. It’s surprising that we haven’t seen Beckett, Dryden Voss, or even Maul. With the DVD hitting home theaters in early September, it’s possible this could be the first set of Legendary characters we could get.

Beckett

Woody Harrelson’s Beckett is a scoundrel to the core, and it was a huge surprise that he wasn’t released with the rest of the scoundrels. He is the leader of the rag-tag group after all. When we didn’t see him added to the game, I originally supposed that his kit would look too similar to that of Cad Bane’s to warrant him. He was a pivotal roll in the story and could very well be added.

Dryden Voss

DV is the main bad guy in the movie. Adding him to the game would not only be awesome but could also open the door to new tags like Crime Syndicate or Cartel or something to that extent. I think he could add a new scoundrel leadership ability that could make this group of rogues more competitive.

Maul

With the return of The Clone Wars sometime in the next six months, it’s possible that we could see a cross over. We know that the show will focus heavily on the Siege of Mandalore, with Maul being a principle antagonist in that story line. Maul’s addition to the closing moments of Solo: a Star Wars Story seemed to highlight his importance to the continuing storyline. And it’s not like we don’t already have a ton of duplicate characters being added to the game. So why not a new Maul?

Bounty Hunters: New & OG

We got a number of great Bounty Hunter Reworks...and some solid new BH.

The bounty hunters are the final group that’s received attention this summer. BHs we’ve had since launch have finally gotten some much needed love. We’ve even gotten a handful of new BHs to round out the faction. And if you look at the Bounty Hunters in the game, you can divide them into two groups: those active during the Clone Wars and those from the original trilogy.

Cad Bane, Aurra Sing, and Embo were all introduced in the Clone Wars cartoon. And even though Zam Wessel was not in the cartoon, she was part of the Prequal trilogy, making her alive during the Clone Wars era. While Boba Fett, Greedo, IG-88, Dengar, and Bossk appeared in the Clone Wars cartoon, they were all characters from the original trilogy. Looking at these characters like this, it makes me think that these groups could be leading to two different characters.

Jango Fett

The only Bounty Hunter in SWGOH that hasn’t gotten a rework is Zam Wessel. If you remember from the Zam from the Prequels she was the assassin who tried to kill Padme in Episode 2. She was hire and eventually killed by Jango Fett. If she receives a rework, we could see an event that introduces Jango to the game. This would send many players into a frenzy as Jango Fett is one of the most asked for characters in the game.

Padme Amidala

If Zam Wessel is reworked, it could also point to Padme Amidala. As I mentioned above, Zam was sent to kill the senator in Episode 2. Padme is another character that players have been asking for some time. Adding Padme now would be an effective lead-in to a Separatist/Galactic Republic rework.

ROTJ Luke

If we are to use the characters from the Original trilogy, we could very well see a Jedi Luke as the Legendary Event added to the game. We now have 4 of the 6 original Bounty Hunters tasked to find Luke Skywalker by Darth Vader. Again, this is a character most players ask for. And since most players have these toons leveled to a point that would allow them to unlock Jedi master Luke at a decent star level, it would be a rare sign of good faith on the part of the developers towards the community.

Really anything is possible in the coming month. It is highly probable that we will see multiple legendary events and possibly a new Heroes’ Journey. Which characters would you like to see be tested out in these areas. Leave a comment in the section below.
