The Mandalorian Season 2: Cast & Release Date

New Season to Feature ‘Established’ Canon Characters

The Mandalorian Season 2takes shapes as news and rumors about the show continue to hit the internet.

Jon Favreau didn’t wait long after the season 1 of Disney+s flagship series had ended before he began working on Season 2. And who could blame him? It was a clear success from the first episode. But there are a few things we know about the shows sophomore season from the man himself and leaks circling the internet.

Favreau’s Instagram

If you follow Jon Favreau’s Instagram feed, then you have seen images from the man’s life. This is no surprise; that’s what Instagram is for. Since he is the director of one of the most loved Star Wars franchise today, it’s no surprise to see an image from his current project. The man gives the people what they want, after all.

On December 27th, Favreau post this image, of a male Gamorrean.

Jon Favreau teases a visit to Gamor.

We don’t know what the statue in the image is meant to symbolize. Will The Mando and Child head to Gamorr in search for the foundlings kin? Does that mean Baby Yoda is Gamorrean and if so, do all Gamorreans turn out like Yoda? Or is this a character who wills how up on a planet we’ve visited before?

Maybe Tattooine.

Mandalorian Season 2 Character Leaks

Recently, an image circling the internet depicts some of the main characters to be involved in season 2. Some names and faces fans will recognize, while others are new. Clearly, Din Djarin, Cara Dune, and Carl Weathers (some people call him Greef Karga) will return. This is not a surprise as they are part of the main focus of the story. It’s likely that season 2 will further explore each character’s backstory.

And what would a Star Wars story be like without a bad guy? Clearly, Giancarlo Esposito reprises his role as Moff Gideon. It’s also not surprising The Armorer, Blurg, and Mayfield return to the screen.

It’s the new characters that have fans shouting excitedly.

The above image shows Chloe Bennet to play Dr. Aphra, Janina Gavankar to Iden Versio, and Dan Donohue as Shriv Suurgav. Fans might recognize the notorious Dr. Aphra from the Marvel comic series by the same name. Iden and Shriv were prominent characters in the short, but satisfying single-player story arc from Star Wars: Battlefront 2.

Seeing these new characters added to a live-action series like The Mandalorian is fan-service pretty much everyone can get behind.
