SWGOH Speculation: ARE WE REALLY DONE WITH CLONE WARS CONTENT?

A little while ago, the Developers at Capital Games took to the forums to announce we are now in the Clone Wars era for the mobile game Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes (SWGOH). They continued to say that when they were done with content for this era, players will be sick to death of Clone Wars content. Since that announcement, it’s fair to say that NOBODY is sick of Clone Wars content yet.

If you take away the reworks for Grievous, Ahsoka, Anakin, Rex, Fives, Kenobi, B2 Battledroid, Magnaguard, Echo, Nute Gunray, Count Dooku and the Geonoshians thus far the only new content we have seen is Geonoshian Brood Alpha, Padme Amidala, Shaak Ti, B1 BattleDroid, General Skywalker and Wat Tambor. Sure with the Light Side Geo Territory Battle, we will see Ki Adi Mundi finally get his moment to shine after being talked about for months. We will also see a Clone Arc Trooper make his debut at some stage down the track.

Echo, Rex, and 5s SWGOH

With this being said, we are approaching the release of The Mandalorian and The Rise Of Skywalker in weeks, and one can certainly feel a little “ripped off” by the lack of Clone Wars “new content” we have seen make its way into the game.

New Content for the Star Wars Galaxy

The developers have stated that “we won’t see any Mandalorian characters make their way into the game yet, but we will be releasing material soon from episodes 7, 8 and 9”. That’s a little upsetting as most Star Wars fans are more hyped for The Mandalorian than The Rise Of Skywalker. If Disney wants a focus on Skywalker than I’d suggest that Capital Games hands are tied on this one. That announcement does give fans the knowledge that “cool new content” will most likely hit the game next year. So that means the game has a lot of life left which is encouraging.

But I’d suggest that Capital Games will flood the game with “Skywalker” content over the next few months, before a return to Clone Wars content in February next year to hype up season 7 on Disney Plus.

Big Missed Opportunities

Which leads me to point out a few “missed opportunities” for Capital Games so far during this “Clone Wars era”. The biggest is without doubt Mace Windu and his fellow Jedi like Kit Fisto, Luminara, etc. If I were a betting man, I’d say that these characters will get their rework, but it won’t be until February next year. This gives you a few months to blunder your way through the light-side Territory Battle before it gets a little easier.

These next characters will go down as a “missed opportunity” to rework them because they probably won’t get another shot again at a rework. They are Darth Sideous, Asaaj Ventress, Darth Maul, and Savage Opress. Asaaj has the Separatist tag, but no synergy with any Separatist allies. Despite being Dooku’s apprentice for most of the Clone Wars. Maul and Savage both had their time as Separatists and if not definitely conspired in the Dark Side, while Darth Sideous was the puppet master for the Separatists. I argue that Councillor Palpatine was the puppet master for the Galactic Republic. Hence all 4 deserve a rework that will probably never eventuate, because if Capital Games were to rework them than it would have happened before the Clones received their reworks due to the Dark Side Territory Battle. That’s a shame for me.

Now we get to the Top 10 Missed Opportunities For Characters To Come To The Game. They are as follows:-

Top 10 Missed Opportunities

  • No 10 - Changing Clone Sargents Name To Heavy.

No 10 - Changing Clone Sargents Name To Heavy.

Capital Games have already ruled this one out, but this era did present the opportunity to finally give Heavy his moment. Sadly he will remain on Kamino.
  • No. 9 Droid Commando

    No. 9 Droid Commando

Commando Droids carried a wide range of weapons including E-5 Blaster Rifles, Thermal Detonators, Stun Batons, Vibroswords, Portable energy shields, Repulsorcams, Fussioncutters, Sniper Rifles, Electrobinoculars and Electrostaffs. They would certainly make a Droid team even better and would be a worth addition to the game.
  • N0. 8 Captain Gregor & Wolffe

    N0. 8 Captain Gregor & Wolffe

These Clones come in as a two for one deal. Much like Geonoshian Brood Alpha. After Order 66, Wolffe and Gregor were found together in Rebels hanging out with Rex after they removed their chip from their heads. They were the only surviving Clones outside of Rex and both deserve to be represented.
  • No. 7 Saesee Tiin

    No. 7 Saesee Tiin

Saesee Tiin was a Jedi Master who served on the Jedi High Council during the last years of the Galactic Republic. A skilled lightsaber combatant and starfighter pilot, Tiin fought in the Clone Wars as a Jedi General of the Grand Army of the Republic. He was slain by Darth Sidious when the Jedi confronted the Sith Lord, who was revealed to be the true identity of Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine.
  • No. 6 Admiral Trench

    No. 6 Admiral Trench

Admiral Trench was one of the most experienced Naval Leaders in the Galaxy. He leads all of his attacks from the Dreadnaught Invincible and his ship sent shivers down the spines of his enemies. He’s not the best hand to hand combat fighter, it’s his ship that remains the key in what he could do with it winning multiple battles easily. It would take Anakin to outwit the Naval Leader to bring about his downfall, but he was without a doubt a formidable foe that would fit into our rosters nicely.
  • No. 5 Pre Vizsla

    No. 5 Pre Vizsla

If the developers weren’t going to give us characters from The Mandalorian, they sure as hell could have given us some Mandalorians! Pre Vizsla was the leader of Deathwatch, a group of Terrorists who were trying to overthrow The Dutchess Of Mandalore. After making several attempts and failing at taking over Mandalore, Vizsla joined forces with Maul’s Shadow Collective which saw him finally become successful in taking over Mandalore. Vizsla had possession of The Dark Sabre and he would use it in duels with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Maul, and Count Dooku. Vizsla is a glaring omission from our rosters.
  • No. 4 Satine Kryze

    No. 4 Satine Kryze

Known as The Dutchess Of Mandalore, Satine was the love interest of Obi Wan Kenobi. Satine was very skilful with a blaster and she was a very ambitious and powerful leader who was allied with Padme and Ahsoka. She was killed by Maul and the Dark Sabre later, but not before she successfully guided her people through Civil War. A Must in the game.
  • No. 3 Bo Katan-Kryze

    No. 3 Bo Katan-Kryze

As highlighted earlier, Mandalore was a crucial part of The Clone Wars series in more ways than one. Bo Katan is perhaps the most important Clone Wars Character not in the game. She was a member of Deathwatch which was under the rule of Maul to try and take back Mandalore from her sister Satine’s rule. Later she would become the leader of Mandalore and possess the Dark Sabre which was gifted to her in Rebels by Sabine Wren.
  • No. 2 THE Hondo Ohnaka

    No. 2 THE Hondo Ohnaka

In 2019, Capital Games finally fixed a huge wrong in the game with one of the main characters from The Clone Wars era in Padme finally coming to the game. Now we must turn our attention to the major players in the supporting cast, and none come bigger than everyone’s favourite pirate Hondo. Thad from Going Nerdy has been pushing Hondo’s case for years to the Developers and he’s not wrong. Hondo is without a doubt more important to Star Wars lore than Wat Tambor as he is now at Galaxys Edge, was a key character in Rebels and The Clone Wars and still he remains in limbo. Hondo simply needs to come to our rosters sooner rather than later.
  • No. 1 Jar Jar Binks

    No. 1 Jar Jar Binks

No character is more decisive in the fandom than Jar Jar. However, while I’m not a huge fan of the character I argue that if C-3PO, L3-37, Holdo and Rose Tico can be playable characters in the game, than Jar Jar deserves his place as well. 2019 marked the 20th Anniversary of The Phantom Menace and you would have to suggest Jar Jar is the biggest opportunity lost on the game. Jar Jar is one of the main characters in the first movie, and remains one of the central characters in The Clone Wars. It’s wrong he’s not in the game.
