Rocket League: Aquadome

Psyonix has been amazing with the content it provides to their fans. There various game modes—basketball, hockey and “Rocket Labs” game modes—are tons of fun.  They also provided new flair items for your car and add beloved cars like the Batmobile, a DeLorean,  and the Warthog from Halo, just to name a few.Rocket League continually provides new and engaging content, and Aquadome is no exception.

If you play Rocket League, then you already know how great the new Aquadome update is. If you don’t, then let me tell you why the new level and the two new cars fit in beautifully.

The Aquadome

The Aquadome level, set in—you guessed it—an underwater dome, is ripe with colors and wonderful scenery that will distracted from kickoff. With wildlife like great white sharks, jellyfish and the various aquatic animals seen through the dome’s almost non-existent glass, you feel as if they could swim through field at any moment and mess up your shot.

Buildings are carefully built into the seascape. They have a rusted steampunk feel that almost seems as if you might have landed in Bioshock. Someone forgot to tell Jack that there was perfectly good soccer field in Rapture.

The new theme, “Drunk Girl’s: Don’t Stop the Party”, features the vocals of Deanna and creates the perfect atmosphere to show all those punks in any game mode that you are a force to be reckoned with.

The Triton

Triton

The first of the two cars introduced is the Triton which (you got it! 2 for 2!) looks like a trident. The sleek speedboat design of the car definitely gives you the impression of speed. Its hitbox is similar to the another car, The Ripper, with the length of the hitbox being longer and the height being average, but the width being smaller.

It fit’s its hitbox better than most DLC cars. The Triton is better for hitting the ball while flipping, or angling your body vertically. The turning radius is average, but paired with good hand-braking, can get you in the best position in any situation.

The Proteus

Proteus

The Proteus, named after the Greek figure, is a more technical looking cruiser. It looks likes if the Curiosity Rover and a submarine had a baby

but took a little more of the rover’s side. Looks aside, it’s larger width is better for hitting the ball head on, or for players newer to aerials. The Length and height, however, are shorter than it’s sibling causing players to be a little more precise with their shots. Overall the car works a lot like the Dominus, so if you want to test it out take the Dominus out for a drive.

While the Triton and the Proteus cost 1.99, the Aquadome update itself is free to download. If you don’t have Rocket League, you can get it for Xbox One, PS4, and digital download.
