Pokemon Going to Keep Updating.

An update about Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go’s newest update focuses on a new reward system and tweaks to grabbing gyms. Leaks reported by The Silph Road show the possibility of new Pokemon in production for Pokemon Go.

Weekly Rewards

A new system implemented will give bonuses to players for catching Pokemon and visiting Pokestops. According to Niantic’s Pokemon Go Blog, 500 XP and 600 stardust will be given for the first Pokemon catch of the day, leading up to the 7th day where the bonus will be 2000 XP and 2,400 stardust. The same applies for Pokestops, expect instead of stardust players receive more items such as Pokeballs, Potions, revives, etc…

Gyms

Capturing a gym will be easier with the new update. After beating a gym, the team that defeated the last gym leader will have more time to claim it. It can be helpful when healing your strongest Pokemon after a battle, to take the throne. This is helped by the increased number of prestige points taken when defeating gym leaders. Unfortunately, It also decreases the amount points taken when your gym is also attacked. Meaning taking over a gym is easier, but keeping one is harder.

New Pokemon

The Silph Road has found in Pokemon Go’s data, that suggests 100 new Pokemon will be added to the game. Pokemon from Chikorita to Celebi (including Lugia and Ho-oh)  have been found in the games code in the Pokedex, but no moves for the Pokemon have been shown. Fan favorite Ditto was also found in the games data after not appearing in the first set of Pokemon. Ditto could have popular moves like Struggle and Transform.

With the addition of these new updates and leaks found, I am excited for what else Pokemon Go might add. Even the less than favorable updates to the mechanics show that Niantic has given the game more attention than it’s had in the past.

What do you think about the new update? Are you excited about the possibility of new Pokemon? What would you like to see added in the game? Why doesn’t Toys R Us return my calls about the Pokewatch?
