Will Asaaj Ventress take the Next Hero’s Journey in SWGOH?

Asaaj Ventress is one of the most well-developed characters in all of modern Star Wars canon. Introduced as Count Dooku’s assassin in Star Wars: Clone Wars, she quickly became a fan favorite with throughout canon. She’s made appearances in comics, books, video games, and other cartoons. And Asaaj plays an important role in the mobile game Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes (SWGOH). And like many fan-favorite characters in SWGOH, many holotable heroes want more Asaaj. That’s why I think we could see an Asaaj Ventress Hero’s Journey entered into as one of the next major events in SWGOH.

The video below outlines some of the reasons I think we could see the Nightsister added to the mix. But let’s look at her story to see just how complex her story really is.

Nightsister, Jedi, Assassin, Sith, Bounty Hunter

Asaaj is many things. Born on Dathomir, she eventually became a slave on Rattatak. After some time, Weequay pirates killed her master, leaving the young Asaaj orphaned until rescued by a Jedi Knight. The Jedi– Ky Narec–trained her in the ways of the Jedi. For several years, she lived with and trained as a Jedi padawan. Upon her master’s death, Asaaj fell to the dark side and was eventually discovered by Count Dooku.

Dooku further trained Asaaj in the ways of the force until he no longer had need of her and tried to execute her. She then became a bounty hunter and worked with the likes of Boba Fett, Dengar, Bossk, and others. You can check out Asaaj’s full story beginning in Dooku: Jedi Lost, continuing in Star Wars the Clone Wars, and finishing in Dark Disciple.

In Game Impact

For Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, Asaaj Ventress is excellent on a Separatist team, a Nightsister team, and even has some merit as a plug-and-play character. A new version of this versatile character would allow players to potentially explore her in some of the other roles she occupied in canon.

Will Asaaj Ventress be the next Hero’s Journey character we get in SWGOH? Probably not. But with a story like her’s, there is a lot of potential there.
