Agents of SHIELD Recap S4 E08 “The Laws of Inferno Dynamics” (Spoilers Ahead)

In this week’s episode, SHIELD works with Ghost Rider in order to save the lives of everybody in Los Angeles.

Important Things to Know Going Into This Week’s Episode

Robbie made a new deal with the Ghost Rider, and Mack decided to help him after briefly experiencing those powers. Meanwhile, Robbie, Coulson, and Fitz have all just returned from being in some sort of state lower than the Ghosts were, but higher than dead. Luckily they were pulled out of it. All of them are now, supposedly, going to be on the same page trying to fight Eli and his new powers. We should also keep our eyes on Ada’s condition after handling the Darkhold, as well as the identity of the inhuman that Simmons helped out of his TerraGenesis cocoon.

The Biggest Moments in this Week’s Episode (SPOILERS!)

1. Mace’s Reputation:

I’m really starting to like Mace. He’s not the best character, but he did a lot of things in this episode that helped me like him so much more. He was expertly able to balance doing the mission right and doing it up to SHIELD’s standards. I think there is a lot more to his character that will come up though. I definitely think Coulson is right to be suspicious in some ways, and I’m interested in seeing where it leads him. Especially now that he’s lost trust of Fitz and Simmons, and alienated May and Mack. His realization that they haven’t been a ‘team’ was significant, especially for him. So, the fact that they were able to work as a team after that was such a cool moment.

2. Robbie and Eli:

I thought that Robbie had to be the one to beat Eli, he seemed like the only one that could logically stop him. Sure, Daisy and Yo-Yo could do a lot, but Robbie has the power of the Ghost Rider and the need to fulfill his debt against his uncle. I would have really liked a bigger fight between these two in this episode. I’m interested in seeing what the rest of the season has in store for Robbie (I can’t imagine he’s really gone), now that he’s defeated Eli.

3. The Final Fight:

The way everybody came together, playing their own specific part in order to Stop Eli and save the day was incredible. The fact that it brought them all together and, hopefully, led them to fighting on the same team for the rest of the season would makes it even better. Something tells me it’s going to be a much different dynamic for the rest of the season.

Ryan’s Speculation of the week:

Ghost Rider will be back, and he is going to be a huge help in the fight against The Watchdogs. I’m guessing that will be the main focus in the back half of the season, and I think he can play a unique role in helping SHIELD win that fight. Especially if he is able to come back and keep his Ghost Rider powers.
