Recap for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S4 E02 “Meet the New Boss” (Spoilers Ahead)

Important Things to Know Going Into This Week’s Episode

1. Quake and S.H.I.E.L.D. don’t see eye-to-eye.

We saw last week that S.H.I.E.L.D. is going in a new direction. It’s clear that Daisy/Quake doesn’t agree with it, and that S.H.I.E.L.D. won’t tolerate her actions for much longer.

2. We’re going to meet the director.

The new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. has only been talked about to this point. This week, we get to meet him and see how he’s changing the organization.

3. May is seeing ghosts.

I left this out last time, because I wasn’t sure that it would be a huge part of the story yet, but it is, and it’s freaky…

The Biggest Moments in this weeks episode (SPOILERS!)

1. So, about those Ghosts…

May is seeing Ghosts, like, on everybody’s faces. Also, there are actual “ghosts” popping up and terrorizing people in their homes. I’m not sure what is causing this, but something tells me that the answer will be surprising and that Ghost Rider will be necessary to stop it. Especially after watching him take down one of the “ghosts” to save Fitz.

2. S.H.I.E.L.D. is entering the public eye.

For the first time in years, S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to be a legitimate government organization. Coulson apparently didn’t fight to keep his position, and now the new director is hoping to lead S.H.I.E.L.D. into the public eye without causing too much uproar.

3. Speaking of the director…

He’s inhuman? Seriously? Has anybody told Daisy about this? Something tells me she’d be more inclined to help S.H.I.E.L.D. if she knew, unless she did know and just doesn’t trust the guy. If that’s the case, though, why the hell would S.H.I.E.L.D. let him be in charge. I’m really interested in seeing how this story develops.

4. Fitz unloaded on Daisy/Quake.

It was both awesome and sad to hear Fitz’ emotions come bubbling over the edge as he shared his thoughts on Daisy turning her back on the team. It was definitely important to see this moment, as it showed us a side of both characters that we aren’t exactly used to seeing.

5. Quake and Ghost Rider seem like they might start working together.

Their back-and-forth in the auto shop was interesting, they both were awesome when they saved Mack and Fitz, but it was unclear how things would go until we saw Daisy get into his car. I am really excited about this partnership, because I think it will be awesome to see them fight together. Hopefully they can get Yo-Yo to come work with them too.

Ryan’s Random Thought:

The director has to be causing these “ghosts”. They never showed up before, they’re more common when he’s around, he seems super freaking sketchy, and he’s obviously going to have an issue with Daisy and Ghost Rider’s actions. I just hope that the conflict is as awesome as the ones we’ve seen in the last few seasons.
