DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Recap S2 E02 “The Justice Society of America” (Spoilers Ahead)

In this week’s episode, the Legends of Tomorrow team up with the justice Society of America to stop the Nazis. They run into issues when Stein’s leadership gets two allies captured. Can the team get out of all of this unscathed?

Important Things to Know Going Into This Week’s Episode

1. Justice Society of America:

The Legends encountered the JSA before they could take the next step in their journey. They Encountered a member of this team (Rex Tyler) at the end of last season, and I’m sure that everything will be easily cleared up once he is brought in, but the initial interaction between the two groups is bound to be good.

2. Where is Rip Hunter?

In the last episode, Rip left a goodbye message to his team after being hit by a nuclear bomb. It is supposed that he is dead, but I highly doubt that will be the case. I’m interested to see if and when he returns to the team.

3. New Characters

Vixen appears to be a part of the JSA. Malcolm Merlyn, though, is still supposed to be a big part of the season. I’m very eager to see how he plays into the show, and what Sara does when she sees him.

The Biggest Moments in this week’s episode (SPOILERS!)

1. The JSA Confrontation:

The two teams definitely didn’t see eye-to-eye in their limited interaction. Rex Tyler didn’t remember the legends either, meaning he likely hasn’t made the trip to the future to save them yet. I can’t exactly say that I’m surprised to see the confusion exists here, that is a main theme of the show. Eventually, it should all make sense.

2. What’s up with Heywood?

It’s weird enough that a member of the JSA just happens to be Heywood’s grandfather, but then Sara learns that he speaks 6 languages, among other interesting qualities. He will obviously play a larger role in this season, but something tells me it won’t just be as an observer in the potential damage to history. I imagine that the bonding moment with his grandfather will definitely have a large impact on his character throughout the season. That superhuman serum should definitely have a large impact as well.

3. Nightclub Drama

There were obviously some awkward moments  when the team found themselves in a Nazi nightclub. The fact that it was ray, not Jax, to snap and cause the fight first definitely wasn’t what I expected, but it was hilarious nevertheless. At least he was able to stand his ground rather than doing a Nazi salute to Hitler.

4. Can they reverse the change in history?

The legends go back in time in order to save the JSA, but there is definitely a possibility that they have caused the deaths by being there. Without knowing exactly what cause their deaths, we can’t know for sure if the team potentially caused the situation. All we know for sure is that they are alive, thanks to the legends.

5. Sara’s stance:

Having a strong woman as a part of the team has definitely caused some problems in the team’s travels throughout history, especially when people from history were so confused about a woman having such a large role. It was clear that Rex Tyler had the same opinion until Stein stepped up and said that Sara’s choices are the team’s choices. It was awesome to see that confidence displayed.

Ryan’s Random Thought:

Ray’s nature had to make it incredibly difficult to even lie about helping the Nazi’s, and I can’t imagine that it was easy for him to see Vixen be hit. With that being said, he was able to hold it all together long enough for his plan, and the teams’ plan to simultaneously occur, helping him and Vixen escape. I’ve never been a huge fan of his character, but this moment seemed really big to me, as he was able to grow to be more than just the guy who rushes in. The fact that it helped to show Vixen, who was skeptical of his abilities, that he truly is a hero, made this scene even better to me.
