DC TV Shows on the CW Recap for 2/27-3/1

On Supergirl, Jeremiah Danvers is rescued from Cadmus. While Kara and Alex are excited about this, Mon-El is suspicious. On Arrow, Vigilante attacks Oliver prompting Diggle to lead a mission to stop him.

Important Things to Know This Week:

Last week was very focused on the side story, which won’t really come into play this week. We should look back to an earlier episode this season, when Jeremiah helped Kara out of Cadmus. Additionally, we should remember that just a few weeks ago, Lena Luthor decided to betray her mom for Supergirl not once, but twice.

Check out my other post about the 2-part “Gorilla City” event of The Flash.

Legends of Tomorrow took this week off. It’s not clear why, but they’ll be back next week.

Susan Williams, after being ruined by Felicity and Thea, will likely look for a way to come back against Oliver and the team. However, team Arrow definitely has to keep in mind that Vigilante and Prometheus are still out there killing people. On top of all of that, Oliver has to deal with a possible impeachment after covering up the fact that he had killed Malone.

The Biggest Moments This Week (Spoilers!):

Supergirl: (S2 E14: Homecoming)

I like when these shows bring up real-world problems. Kara and Mon-El getting together seemed to be a foregone conclusion for weeks. It’s hilarious and awesome that the first thing that happens after they reveal it, is that they are told that they have to file with H.R. If their relationship can survive the trials they go through during this week’s episode, I hope we get to see them deal with more relationship problems that people in the real world would face.

A few weeks ago, I applauded Kara for trusting her instincts when everybody else was sure that Lena Luthor was guilty. This week, though, it’s Mon-El who’s opinions are contrary to others. I think, again, that the one person is being smarter than the group. Everybody should be wary of how easy it was to get Jeremiah back, especially considering that Cadmus has been dark for so long. I like that Mon-El enlists Winn’s help investigating Jeremiah, but it doesn’t make sense that they were able to convince Kara so easily.

Anybody paying attention should have realized that Jeremiah’s return was too good to be true. I expected anything from a shapeshifter to a flat-out betrayal. I didn’t expect that Jeremiah would be altered with the same technology that turned Hank Henshaw into Cyborg Superman. It was good that Kara and Alex were able to face that and get through it, but now Jeremiah is back on the run with Cadmus. I don’t know if they will ever get over it either.

Arrow: (S5 E15: Fighting Fire with Fire)

Oliver facing impeachment is tough. I love watching him as the mayor, and it would be terrible to see that aspect of the show go away. It’s interesting that Oliver’s doctor advises him to either cut back on the dual life or to get somebody to help him get his mind off of the rest of his life occasionally. Elsewhere, Thea almost crosses some serious lines. I may be alone in thinking that she and Felicity were right to set up Susan, but blackmail is too far, even to save Oliver.

It’s awesome that we get to see the members of Oliver’s team interact outside of their vigilante activities. I was worried that the show would lose that when Oliver started building a new team, but those team members seem to be coming together and building out some awesome friendships. With that being said, the team is very focused on finding Vigilante during this episode.

The Russia story seems irrelevant this week. Arrow is entering the last portion of the season, and we still have a lot to learn about the villains Oliver is dealing with in the present day. I hope that we will see an episode soon that focuses much more heavily on Russia. I’d even be happy with better balance in the last 7 episodes. either way, we need to see how that story gets resolved.

Overall:

Adrian Chase?! Really?! Prometheus’ identity has been the biggest mystery of arguably any of these shows this season, and this is far from any answer I expected. The thought of Tommy Merlyn being alive even crossed my mind. Adrian Chase makes a lot of sense. I did think that Prometheus had to be somebody from Oliver’s past, but Adrian is one of the few people who have had screen time, that could actually still fit the bill.

With Oliver choosing to vilify the Green Arrow, I’m not sure what happens next. The team can’t stop hunting Vigilante or Prometheus, though. Adrian’s identity will come out sooner or later. When it does, it’s going to put Oliver in a strange position. Let’s see what happens.

Ryan’s Speculation of the week:

Oliver is going to take a step away from being the Green Arrow. I’m not saying that he’ll stop, because I fully expect him to put the hood back on to stop Prometheus. After this week, though, it would make sense for him to let the team operate without him as much as possible. Don’t be surprised to see Oliver focus, almost entirely, on being the mayor the rest of the season.

Supergirl airs on Mondays, The Flash & Legends of Tomorrow air on Tuesdays, and Arrow airs on Wednesdays on the CW. Leave a comment and let me know what you thought about this week’s slate of episodes.
