DC TV Shows on the CW Recap for 11/7-11/10 (Spoilers Ahead)

I have mentioned many times in my recaps about a mega-crossover event of the DC TV Shows. In anticipation for this, I’ll be transitioning my recaps to a weekly overview of the “Arrowverse” until the crossover event. Here’s a quick recap of what happened to our favorite heroes over on the CW this week:

Important Things to Know This Week:

On Supergirl, Kara is balancing a lot. Her  job as a reporter, the fight against Cadmus, and her budding friendship with Mon-El. In this week’s episode, we see Supergirl battle a gang of Cadmus-armed criminals. We should also keep an eye on Alex’ relationship with Maggie Sawyer, as it definitely looks like there is more than what we see on the surface.

The Flash did not air this week, due to election night in the US.

On Arrow, Oliver and the team are starting to come together, but there are more challenges on the horizon. In this week’s episode, we see Prometheus increase his killing. Naturally, there is a link between these victims and Oliver’s past, and this puts the team in danger. Keep an eye out, also, for the developing story in the mayor’s office with Quentin and Thea, and for Felicity’s new dilemma now that her boyfriend is working directly with Oliver.

On Legends of Tomorrow, the team is still traveling through time trying to keep everything balanced, while also looking for Rex Tyler’s killer. In this week’s episode, they investigate a time quake during the Reagan presidency. While there, they run into our old friend Damien Darhk acting as a senior adviser to the president. While the team fights that battle, Amaya and Nate try to break into the JSA and recruit help but find a huge surprise.Stein tries to keep his younger self from creating a massive time aberration.

The Biggest Moments This Week (Spoilers!):

Supergirl: (S2 E05 “Crossfire”)

Supergirl is getting very political, so far this season we’ve had story lines dealing with immigration, alien rights, xenophobia, and now gun control. Not to mention that the entire show has consistent undertones of gender equality. I really like the way they’ve done it though because they have shown both sides of the issues they bring up. Obviously, the show-runners show their views on the issue at hand, but it’s still very interesting to watch. It will also be interesting to see how they tackle the potential that Alex has feelings for Maggie.

I’m really not sure what’s going on with the Luthor’s. It seems like Lena is serious about changing the public perception of her family and their company. Her mother, on the other hand, seems to be leading Cadmus in the fight against Supergirl and the aliens. That will be an interesting dynamic over the course of the season.

Kara/Supergirl has done a good job of balancing her work, personal, and super lives, but I think Mon-El might knock it off balance. She doesn’t seem to know how to manage him, and that might cause some major issues. Hopefully, her talk with Alex helps; he could really help her fight the enemies she will encounter this season. Maybe they’ll get some help from Jimmy as well.

Arrow: (S5 E06 “So It Begins”)

Prometheus is an interesting character. Oliver has fought multiple mass murderers in his time as a vigilante, but this guy takes it to another level, and it seems to be extremely personal toward Oliver. The names of the people Prometheus is killing are anagrams of names from Oliver’s list from back in season one before he decided to stop killing people. This leaves the possibility that Prometheus is somebody tied to the list. It’s the most logical possibility of who would want revenge on Oliver. Whoever it is, this is going to be a difficult battle for Oliver, and he’ll need his team behind him to fight this battle.

I’m glad that Oliver finally decided to bring the team into the fight. Having his team become a major part of these things is the only way for them to improve their skills and abilities. I’ve been a critic of the way he has treated them, so I’m happy to see him involve them. It’s strange that they just let the gunmen walk away, though. Especially after causing such a large panic. He needs to learn to trust them earlier. If they had been included from the beginning, they may not have freaked out over the list as much as they did.

Felicity’s moral dilemma about stealing evidence, and whether or not to tell Billy about the Arrow, definitely made for an interesting subplot this week. As did the story of Thea finding out about Quentin still having a drinking problem.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: (S2 E05 “Compromised”)

Thawn and Darhk are definitely two of the most despicable villains in the Arrowverse. One of the legends also wants each of these two dead. The conversation between Jax and Stein about whether or not they should be allowed to change things seems to foreshadow the decisions that Sara and Amaya will have to make concerning whether or not they kill Darhk and Thawn. Is revenge really worth it if it changes the future in unimaginable ways? Sara definitely reacts in a different way than I would have expected, and that was a truly awesome moment.

Meanwhile, Amaya and Nate find the old JSA training facility in shambles and run into former JSA member Obsidian. He tells them about how the JSA fell, and they realize how time travel can cause unexpected and accidental consequences. Obsidian is definitely against helping them to fight against Darhk at Reagan’s state dinner with Gorbachev. The decision to help led to an awesome sequence of events.

I’m not sure what caused younger Stein to decide to follow Darhk to the park and propose a plan to him, but it definitely wasn’t a smart idea. The legends had to act quickly in order to try to save him and keep the older stein from dying as a result of the stupidity. Later, older Stein tries to save his marriage through a conversation with a young Clarissa, and it was definitely interesting to see.

Overall:

I have speculated that the crossover event this season would be something to do with time travel, flashpoint, and things of that nature. I thought it was the perfect chance to highlight the clearest connection between the shows. We will instead get a crossover based on Alien invasion and focused on Supergirl coming to Earth-1 in order to get the help of the other heroes. I’m very excited for the crossover event, even if it isn’t what I thought it should be.

Ryan’s Speculation of the week:

I want to bring up 2 points this week; both if which are popular fan theories.

1 is the theory that the crossover event coming up will lead to the merging of Supergirl’s earth with Earth-1. I think that could be what ends up happening, and I would love it! It made sense, initially, to have Supergirl exist in a different dimension, but, now that all 4 shows are on The CW, having a way to crossover between any of them, at any time, is definitely preferable.

The other is the speculation that Prometheus in Arrow is actually Tommy Merlyn, who died in the first season finale of Arrow. Oliver’s former best friend never was a fan of Oliver’s vigilante actions, and if he were somehow reanimated, or if a version of him from another earth showed up, or if Flashpoint caused him to survive somehow, it would make a lot of sense that he would fight against Oliver. With that being said, it looks like it is Lance. He had a throwing star, and a cut from the new Canary. If he ends up being Prometheus, I doubt he has been doing it on his own. He isn’t that bad of a person.

Supergirl airs on Mondays. The Flash airs on Tuesdays. Arrow airs on Wednesdays. Legends of Tomorrow airs on Thursdays. All on the CW. Leave a comment and let me know what you thought about this week’s slate of episodes.
