Are You Afraid of the Dark Types?

A Pokemon Halloween update.

By Jacob “Devilish” Davie

Pokemon Go has declined in user count recently, dropping ten million in 3 months. Despite this, loyal fans have still supported the game with in-app purchases earning roughly two million dollars a day. To thank players, Niantic Labs has released an update fun for the whole family. From October 26 until November 1, some new features will be added to get you in the Halloween mood.

New Loading Screen

The first feature is the new beautiful loading screen. The distracted player shown now walks through what looks like a park with a Pokestop in the background and a special Pokemon in the trees. A Gengar roughly the same size as the player bends the dark and twisted woods pictured behind him. It stares at the player in the shadows with a sinister smile, glowing red eyes and a stance ready for attacking.

Double Candy

The next big addition affects the “treat” side of Pokemon Go. All Pokemon caught, hatched, or transferred will give double candy for players! Your Buddy Pokemon will earn candy twice as fast as before. Getting you a lot closer to that Dragonite, Charizard, Blastoise, or Venusaur you have been working on for months. Double candy also means leveling up your player will speed up ridiculously fast.

More Spooky

The last bonus is that certain spooky Pokemon are more likely to appear throughout the game. Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Zubat, Golbat, Drowze, and Hypno will be more prominent no matter what area you’re in. Make sure to stock up on Pokeballs to catch that 1200 CP Gengar!

What do you think is Pokemon Go’s next big update? Is there any Pokemon you wish were more frequent? Why isn’t the update called Spookeymon Go? Please comment below and remember to have a safe and Happy Halloween!
